Transformer of the Day for November 8, 2009
HEATWAVE
-Faction: Decepticon
-Era: Shattered Verse (2008-Present)
-Function: Weapons / Systems Design
-Motto: “This is Quantum Hexi-crypto, Totally Unbreakable; I’ll need Three Minutes.“
-Notable Toy: Exclusive (Hasbro, 2009)
Notes: You will have to forgive me but I don’t know how to classify Heatwave. He’s clearly of two worlds, being part of the Universe line of toys that have been part of the Transformers Collectors’ Club official annual premium (and the leader of the group of combiners now certainly known as Nexus Prime). But he is also an officer from the Shattered Glass universe, a heroic Decepticon uniting two Autobots and two Decepticons who are all something more. Gotta say though, I personally would have preferred the solid colours of the prototype (as shown above) to the translucent colours of the actual release.

Transformer of the Day for August 9, 2009
SENTINEL MAXIMUS
-Faction: Autobot
-Era: Universe (2003-2004)
-Function: Matrix Guardian / Armoured Transport
-Motto: “‘Til All Are One“
-Notable Toy: Exclusive (Hasbro, 2004)
Notes: Sentinel Maximus is truly a toy with a history. Originally solicited to serve as one of two toy exclusives to the then-Official Transformers Collectors’ Convention (OTFCC), a controversial successor to Botcon that folded in 2004, he was for whatever reason not ready for the convention itself. Later, when OTFCC declared bankruptcy, Hasbro itself undertook to distribute the toy to pre-paid convention goers as best as possible. A great example of how a truly nice toy can almost get lost in the bureaucracy of an event.

Transformer of the Day for January 19, 2009
KING ATLAS
-Faction: Autobot
-Era: Universe (2003-2004)
-Function: Commander
-Motto: “Words Only Get in the Way of Action”
-Notable Toy: Universe (Hasbro, 2004)
Notes: Is he Dai Atlas 2.0, or the lightening of the Micronaut’s own red baron? In any case, King Atlas realized the promise of what was to be Hasbro’s first shortlived Universe line. He was the first wide-issue U.S. release of the Generation Two-esque Decepticon Predator jet, Skyquake. While he lacked accessories, he made his mark with his weathered paint applications and imposing size. He might be a block, but he was a good looking block.
