I have a theory. North American are all about claiming intellectual property rights for items that, when you get right down to it (accessories for pre-existing copyrighted items using established licenses), are not theirs to use.

Asian are more careful about getting caught.

So I guess my "Nala presents Plasticcrack.com's Collection of Robot Phalli" won't go over too well with you.

I actually had a similar discussion with M_Sipher a few years ago - one idea he had was repro weapons like the generic rifles and pistols the cartoon Autobots used. Sort of like that "Gear of War" pack, but mostly focusing on handguns and stuff. Someone else did the G1 Ironhide and Ratchet heads, which is great.

What interests me most about the entire fan-mod endeavour is how vastly different the Chinese fans' culture regarding it is to the U.S. fans' culture. I couldn't tell you who actually did any of the work on City Commander or any of those sets - it's just a network of fans doing pro-quality work and taking no credit. The U.S. fans, on the other hand, practically carve their names into the back of the toy - HOOPER_X PRESENTS A HOOPER_X FAN PROJECT: SPACE FANTASY ROBOT ARSENAL 1 - A CUSTOM PROJECT BY HOOPER_X.
