It was strange. Back in 1996, HasbroToyShop.com had an offer to buy a limited selection of Beast Wars II and even Beast Wars Neo toys like Longrack and Stampy. Leo Convoy and Galvatron were $34.99, back in the day that the U.S. dollar cost almost $1.50 Canadian. I say strange because the toyshop went away for some years and, when it returned, it didn’t facilitate purchasing from Canada until very recently (leading one to ask why they could do it in the late 1990s but not a decade later).

Anyway, I got my Leo and Galvatron during a buy-one-get-one-half-price sale, which was somewhat problematic because I’d wanted to buy Longrack ($19.99) and one other at the time, and the way the program worked, it gave me the two leaders at full price and the lower priced figures at half price. In the end I went with Leo and Galvatron to maximize the cost savings, although I think I did get my white Tigatron and black Shadow Panther through the site at the same time (and I am not sure how that worked out discount wise).

It really is a terrific mould.

Really, you could get the first one in the US from Hasbro directly? I never knew that. I got my Lio (Leo? I have no idea which is really correct) and Galv on ebay some years ago and it looks like prices are higher lately so I guess it’s good I did when I did. I really like the original mold. Wish Hasbro would make more use of non-US toys like they did with the mammoth Nemesis Prime Target exclusive.
